“When I try to download videos I receive a message saying ‘Camera is not assigned to this server’.”

VidLock security requires each camera to be assigned to the server before video files can be downloaded. This is a security process that will prevent video files from being downloaded to any other VERIPATROL installation. The camera must be assigned in the Admin software before download can occur.

“When Assigning a camera I receive a message saying ‘Assigning will erase all video files stored on the camera. Please contact VIEVU if you are receiving this message in error. Erase video files?’

The camera was used to record video prior to being assigned to your installation. This is a security process that will prevent video files from being downloaded to any other VERIPATROL installation. Once the camera has been assigned to a VERIPATROL installation, the videos cannot be downloaded anywhere else.

“When I play a video all I see is a black screen.”

The ffdshow codec is not installed on the computer. The ffdshow codec can be downloaded and installed from here.

“The Server Setup tab is grayed out.”

In a network installation the server setup tab is only available when accessed from the server. Login to the admin application on the server to view the server setup tab.

“How do I store videos on another harddrive or network location?”

The video storage locations are managed from the Server Setup tab in the Admin application. However, each user may be assigned to their own unique storage location.

  1. Create the new storage location on the Server Setup tab
    1. On the Server Setup tab click the “New Storage” button at the bottom
    2. You may enter the storage path into the box or click the browse button to select the location. When complete click “OK”. NOTE: If the files will be stored on another computer the service “VIEVU VERIPATROL Server” log on credentials need to be changed to a valid domain account that has read/write permissions. A Windows Domain is required for secure video transport. If an error is received the network path is incorrect or permissions are not setup
  2. Update each user to point to the new storage location.
    1. On the Officer tab double click on the user you wish to change the video storage location for. This will open the “User Settings” window
    2. Remove the check mark next to “Default Storage”
    3. Click the drop down menu and select the new storage location
    4. Click “Ok”

If you need any assistance completing these steps please contact us for assistance.
